Senior School

Dear Parents,

This week kicked off with a wonderful celebration of Earth Day led by our Senior School Sustainability Committee. Our students engaged in various activities, including a greenhouse planting session, a captivating wildlife documentary screening, and a fulfilling plogging excursion.

We are thrilled to announce the commencement of the BCCK Empower Collaboration, where women professionals graciously mentor a Year 12 student. The inaugural meeting on Monday was a success, as connections were forged, norms were established, and mentor-mentee relationships began to blossom. A heartfelt thank you to Emma Chamberlain for her invaluable contribution in setting the stage for this initiative.

As our Year 11 students embark on their IGCSE examinations and commence study leave, we bid them success and encourage them to stay focused and resilient during this crucial period. We wrapped up their IGCSE experience with a joyous farewell party on Wednesday, complete with karaoke performances that showcased some hidden talents! We look forward to welcoming them back for the Year 12 Transition Day on 12 June, after their IGCSE exams have finished.

To all our students preparing for examinations, please remember that support is readily available within the school community. We strongly advise maintaining a balanced schedule that includes adequate rest, nutritious meals, regular breaks, and physical activity.

A special note of gratitude to all the parents who organised and generously donated to the Teacher and Staff Appreciation Lunch yesterday. Your kindness and thoughtfulness are deeply appreciated by our staff.

Our Parent Workshop Term 3 series commenced with an insightful overview of the PE and Sport curriculum by Pete Poulton. It was inspiring to hear about the upcoming opportunities in FOBISIA and KAIAC, aimed at enhancing our Middle School and Varsity team opportunities and reclaiming our swimming prowess.

We were delighted to welcome and connect with new parents during this week’s coffee morning. Your presence enriches our community, and we look forward to building meaningful connections with you.

Lastly, our attention on Global Citizenship this Friday revolved around Community Engagement. We want to express our appreciation to Ms Katherine Corteza and Ms Grace Heo from Itaewon Global Village Center for highlighting the importance of impactful community engagement. After an interactive assembly, students worked together in groups to generate their own concepts for community engagement projects.

Exciting news! We’re thrilled to introduce a new student initiative aimed at recognising and celebrating success within our school community. We’re (re)launching the Dulwich Varsity jacket, in collaboration with New Balance, available to any Senior School student who has represented the school in a sporting, academic, performance, or creative capacity.

The jacket will feature patches that represent the diverse achievements of our students. More details regarding costs and ordering information will be shared with you via email. Get ready to wear your accomplishments with pride!

Enjoy the week

SSAEM Mentoring for Year 7-Year 11

The Year 12 students are re-introducing the new SSAEM peer mentoring program for this term!

‘SSAEM’, which roughly translates to ‘tutor’ in Korean vernacular, is designed to help younger students (Year 7 to Year 11) with academics and other things relating to senior school. It can be a great way to gain insight into IB students’ perspectives on school and also to discuss topics that are more suitable for a mature student body.

Mentees will be joined up as either single sessions (one mentor and one mentee) or double sessions (one mentor and two mentees), depending on the mentees’ choices. Scheduling for meetings will happen individually via email between the mentors and the mentees, which can happen anytime from lunchtime to 4.30pm after school.

For students wishing to become mentees for this term, please fill out this form.

We look forward to seeing more students sign up!

Earth Day Celebrations in Senior School

We marked Earth Day with a number of activities put on by the Senior School Sustainability Committee, including a greenhouse planting activity, a wildlife documentary and plogging excursion. On Monday morning, students took part in a planting activity in our new greenhouse. In the afternoon our learners enjoyed a wildlife documentary in the library during lunchtime. Meanwhile, NoCarbon November winners 7ZH went to the river during PSHE to go plogging; a great way to exercise while caring for our local natural spaces!
