Chungnam Wildlife Rescue Center

On Monday 22 April, Primary and Senior School students came dressed in blue or green to celebrate Earth Day and to raise money for Chungnam Wildlife Rescue Center, an organisation that rehabilitates injured wild animals. Overall, our community raised over KRW 1,200,000 – thank you for your generosity!

Coupang Global Mobility Team Visit

We recently welcomed Jen Ignat and Cheryl Toh from Coupang’s Global Mobility Team to our campus, where both met with our College Leadership Team. We thanked them for their partnership and trust in our school to help onboard the Coupang families. They, in turn, thanked us for the support we’ve provided the Coupang families as they settle into their new lives here.

Update on Strategic Plan

We are pleased to provide an update of our strategic planning process.

After months of extensive internal discussions involving engagement of different stakeholders (including the incoming Head of College), consultation with various partners around market size projections, competitor analysis and political landscape, we identified four areas of prioritization from over 100 proposed projects.

The Board of Governors recently approved the four areas of prioritization as follows:

  • Develop a Premier Bespoke High School Experience
  • Key components include academic excellence, focus on mastery and compact class sizes no larger than 1/14.
  • Focus on student wellbeing and support.
  • DUCKS to Year 9.
  • Focus on seamless Primary School to Middle School transition.
  • Upgrade Facilities
  • Develop a Master Plan in lieu of ad hoc improvements.
  • Alignment with EiM branding and values.
  • Technology upgrades
  • Create AI Centre of Excellence.

Next steps

We will incorporate these priorities into the budgeting process for 2024/25 and start work on proposed programs. The Master Planning process has launched and construction is scheduled to start May 2025.

We will continue to keep you updated on our progress. Thank you for your support.

New billing updates

Please note we have implemented a few changes to our billing system as follows:

  • New tuition fees for 2024/25 can be viewed here
  • Invoices for next Academic Year 2024/25 are scheduled to go out on 10 May and will be generated from a new system. You will notice changes in the format of the invoices.
  • New families who joined after October 2023 whose payments were initially set as termly will receive annual invoices for 2024/25 unless they submitted a Payment Term Update Form. Annual payment is set for families to receive a 5% discount for the tuition fee and 17% discount for the bus fee.
  • The school’s auto-debit, CMS banking system will be discontinued next Academic Year 2024/25 beginning in August 2024 due to changes in the school system. This will only affect existing school banking applicants.

Revised COVID Guidelines

Please note the authorities have revised guidelines as follows for those who test positive for COVID-19, effective immediately.

Old guideline:

  • Must stay home for 3 days

New guideline:

  • Recommend staying home for 24 hours after all symptoms go away, and then returning to school/work.

Thank you for helping to keep our community safe.

Sidewalk, DUCKS Entrance Closure During May

Due to ongoing infrastructure improvements in our local area, there will be important access changes at Dulwich College Seoul throughout May. The sidewalk from Sinbanpo Station on the school side will be closed, requiring parents and students to take alternative routes. Consequently, the side DUCKS entrance will be closed, and all students will need to use the main entrance during this period. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we navigate these necessary changes to ensure the safety of our students, parents, and staff.

Dulwich College Seoul Guidelines for Drop-off and Pick-up

We kindly ask that our community adhere to the following guidelines to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our students, parents and staff.

Dos:

  1. Follow Staff Directions: Adhere to the instructions of our traffic control staff wearing reflective vests for safety and efficiency.
  1. Quick and Efficient Drop-off/Pick-up: Limit your stop to the time needed for children to enter or exit the vehicle. Avoid getting out of your car and use the underground car park if you need to stop for more than a minute.
  1. Prioritize Pedestrians: Always give pedestrians, especially children, the right of way when crossing the street. Drive slowly with caution and be prepared to stop.
  1. Respect Traffic Rules: Obey all traffic signs and road markings. Do not make illegal turns or ignore yellow lines.
  1. Help Drivers to Focus: Place your pet at a safe distance from the driver as it could be dangerous if the pet makes any sudden moves.
  1. Use Alternative Spots for Call Taxis: Avoid rush hour and arrange for pickup away from the school’s main entrance as taxis waiting for passengers often disrupt traffic.
  1. Be Courteous: Treat other parents, staff, and students with kindness and respect.

Don’ts:

  1. Don’t Block Traffic: Avoid double parking or stopping in a way that obstructs traffic flow.
  1. Don’t Use Your Phone: Refrain from using your mobile phone while in the school zone.
  1. Don’t Park Illegally: Do not park on or near pedestrian crossings and do not leave your car unattended at any time. Fines will be charged by traffic police.
  1. Don’t Rush: Avoid speeding and hurried maneuvers in the school zone.
  1. No Hagwon Shuttles Allowed: Hagwon (private academies) shuttle buses are not allowed to stop and pick up students in front of the school. Refrain from having students be picked up by Hagwon shuttles from school.

From the Nurse Team:

If your child requires medication for an illness during school hours, please refer to the school medication policy outlined below.

[Medication Policy]

  • Children requiring medication for an illness should stay at home until they have fully recovered. If your child is essentially well but needs to continue with a day or two of treatment, the medication may be sent to school. In such cases, it is crucial that you provide us with precise details and the following documents:
    1. Complete the ‘Medication Permission Slip’ (to be filled out by the parent): download it from the parent portal.
    2. Provide a doctor’s prescription or send a picture of the pharmacy envelope.
  • Send the documents to the nurse’s office (via email or in person).
  • Please inform the class teacher by email, and your child will be directed to the nurse’s office to take the medicine.
  • Medication handover: Under no circumstances should students carry medicine on campus, including on the school bus. Therefore, kindly hand over any medicine directly to the nurse’s office or to the bus monitor along with the required documents.

For any queries, please contact us at Nurse@dulwich-seoul.kr or call 02.3015.8520.
