Primary School

Dear Primary Families,

Class Rep Meeting

The notes from our Class Rep Meeting can be found here

Thursday’s Staff Appreciation Lunch:

Our grateful thanks to the FoD for a sumptuous lunch on Thursday. The tables were groaning with delicious options and the Primary staff and support staff felt much appreciated by families and thankful for such a generous gesture!

Assemblies This Week

Monday’s assembly with Year 1- Year 3 was led by Mr Loft with an Earth Day theme.

Friday’s Assembly for Year 4 – Year 6 was led by Year 5V and it explored human’s desire for palm oil and what this means for the planet’s health.

EYFS Assembly (Nursery and Reception): We revisited the PANTs programme talking about how to keep our selves safe. We also talked about sun safety and rembering our hats for playtime.

Year 6’s Morning Mingle:

Year 6 proved themselves to be caring and principled hosts on Thursday, ensuring their parents’ every breakfast need was met! Drinks, snacks and introductions were offered before many in the assembled groups took a slide on the Dulwich Drop!

Year 4 trip Science Museum

Year 4 enjoyed a wonderful trip to the Science Museum today. We took the metro to get there, which was a first for many of our students, and the students displayed fantastic principled attitudes, listening to their adults to stay safe. At the museum, the students were able to look at many different rooms and learn about innovations linked to their IC learning. Throughout the day, our students showed fantastic behaviour and curiosity.

Battle of the Books:

A team of eleven students are eagerly preparing to compete against other schools in the Battle of the Books at Gyeonggi Suwon International School this Saturday. These dedicated children have put in extensive effort to study the ten designated books and master tricky questions about them, aiming to demonstrate their deep understanding and love for literature in this exciting competition. Competing as a team in events, like the Battle of the Books, not only enhances children’s academic skills but also fosters valuable social and collaborative abilities, teaching them to communicate effectively and resolve challenges collectively, promoting a sense of camaraderie and achievement that extends beyond individual success.

New Parents Coffee Morning

I enjoyed getting to know new parents who have recently joined our community at this morning’s welcome event.

Students Cell Phones and smart watches:

Students are asked not to bring cell phones and smart watches onto campus. They can distract from learning and cause friendship issues too.

Cell phones and smart watches on Primary School overnight trips are strictly prohibited (inc. FOBISIA events, EiM MADD festival, year group residentials and any other overnight stay). This is due to the child protection risk that is associated with children having unsupervised access to the internet and being able to photo/video in a hotel room or tent where other children may be dressing or sleeping etc.

When discovered the phone/device will be removed from the child’s possession by our staff and all recordings checked by PLT. Parents will be contacted to collect the phone from the Head of Primary. Disciplinary actions will be followed as per the Primary Behaviour Management Policy. The student’s participation in future overnight trips will not be guaranteed.

Many thanks to all families for their support of our students’ health and wellbeing.

Kindness Certificates

This week, we honored Maja, Geoffrey, and Hyesin with Kindness Certificates for their thoughtful actions and helpful demeanor. Nominated by staff, these students embodied the spirit of kindness, brightening the days of those around them through small acts of compassion.

“Kindness. It costs nothing, but means everything.”

At our institution, we believe this quote rings true. These certificates recognize those who go above and beyond to spread warmth and inspire others to follow suit.

Congratulations to the recipients for their outstanding contributions to creating a more understanding community. Let’s continue spreading kindness, one gesture at a time.

Sidewalk, DUCKS Entrance Closure During May

Due to ongoing infrastructure improvements in our local area, there will be important access changes at Dulwich College Seoul throughout May. The sidewalk from Sinbanpo Station on the school side will be closed, requiring parents and students to take alternative routes. Consequently, the side DUCKS entrance will be closed, and all students will need to use the main entrance during this period. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we navigate these necessary changes to ensure the safety of our students, parents, and staff.

The Ambassador Platform

We’re pleased to share “The Ambassador Platform” with our community—an interactive chatting app that’s been connecting prospective parents with our dedicated community of parents. This platform is not only useful for prospective parents but also a helpful resource for our current parents. They can easily start a conversation with our experienced parent ambassadors to get answers to any questions they may have about Dulwich College Seoul’s school life.
