Senior School

What beautiful weather we are having! It was delightful to hear about the walks, river visits, and enjoyment of our young people during Wednesday’s public holiday.

Monday was the finale of the KAIAC Football season. Our boys’ and girls’ varsity teams recently participated in the KAIAC Football Tournament, showcasing their tenacity and resilience on the field. Despite the challenges they faced, our players demonstrated valiant efforts and sportspersonship throughout the tournament. We are immensely proud of their dedication and commitment to representing our school. We are looking forward to celebrating their achievements at the Sport/s Award Ceremony on the 20 May.

I returned to school on Thursday to an invitation from the gardening club ECA. Gardening enthusiasts have been busy cultivating not just plants, but also a sense of community and sustainability. They recently shared the fruits of their labour with me – delicious strawberries that were a true delight to savour. Through this enrichment activity, students are not only learning about nature and organic produce but also developing a deeper appreciation for the environment.

In week two of the exam season, our students have been diligently preparing for their IB and IGCSE examinations. I’m pleased to report that things are progressing well, with students applying the lessons they’ve learned in their studies. They are making effective use of our study facilities, engaging in focused revision, and implementing targeted practice strategies to excel in their exams.

I am looking forward to reconnecting with our parent reps on Thursday. Please send any topics, questions and ideas to your rep before Thursday.

Enjoy the week

Spotlight on Community Engagement

As part of our Global Citizenship Enrichment sessions, we were thrilled to welcome Ms Katherine Corteza and Ms. Grace Heo from Itaewon Global Village Center who spoke with students about the importance of meaningful community engagement. After assembly, students worked in groups to reflect on the communities they live in, and create some of their own ideas for community engagement projects.

SSAEM Mentoring for Year 7-Year 11

The Year 12 students are re-introducing the new SSAEM peer mentoring program for this term!

‘SSAEM’, which roughly translates to ‘tutor’ in Korean vernacular, is designed to help younger students (Year 7 to Year 11) with academics and other things relating to senior school. It can be a great way to gain insight into IB students’ perspectives on school and also to discuss topics that are more suitable for a mature student body.

Mentees will be joined up as either single sessions (one mentor and one mentee) or double sessions (one mentor and two mentees), depending on the mentees’ choices. Scheduling for meetings will happen individually via email between the mentors and the mentees, which can happen anytime from lunchtime to 4.30pm after school.

For students wishing to become mentees for this term, please fill out this form.

We look forward to seeing more students sign up!
