2024 Annual Experience Survey: Key Insights and Actions

Introduction: We are delighted to report significant improvements in our annual experience survey results. This year, we have updated our metrics for evaluating recommendations: we previously utilised the Average Recommendation Score (ARS), and we have now adopted a new methodology for Brand NPS, calculated as the percentage of promoters minus the percentage of detractors. This shift provides a more nuanced insight into our community’s loyalty and satisfaction.

Parents:

  • ARS: Increased to 8.02 from 7.64 last year.
  • Brand NPS: Soared to 29 from 14 last year, significantly outperforming the EiM group average of 23. This improvement is driven by an increase in promoters and a reduction in detractors, reflecting strong parental approval of our educational and community initiatives.
  • Planned Actions: We will continue to enhance communication channels, continue fostering a sense of community and diversify extracurricular offerings to meet the diverse interests of our students.

Students:

  • ARS: Improved to 6.9 from 6.79 last year, reflecting enhanced satisfaction with the learning environment.
  • Brand NPS: Remained stable at -11, which is substantially better than the South Korean benchmark of -15, highlighting our success in maintaining a positive perception amidst cultural norms.
  • Planned Actions: We are committed to expanding language programs, ECA provisions and enhancing student leadership opportunities to further empower our students.

Staff:

  • ARS: Remained largely flat at 5.56 vs 5.75 last year.
  • Brand NPS: Dropped slightly to -35 from -32, indicating the need for enhanced communication and support within our staff community.
  • Planned Actions: Plans include ensuring managers lead by example, avoiding pinch points for certain calendar periods and providing ample lead time for group projects.

Conclusion: As we implement these targeted actions based on the annual survey’s insights, we are dedicated to continually enhancing the experience for all members of our school community. Our commitment to making our school an even more supportive and enriching place for learning remains unwavering. We thank everyone who participated in the survey, as your feedback is crucial in helping us shape a better future.

Counsellor’s Corner

Here we are with another school year almost in the books. You can really feel it around the school. You can really see that children are ready to let loose a little. I can also see that our students have grown in many ways by the way they act and speak. Soon they will break for summer and will be a chance to unwind and grow even more. I’m always surprised by what kind of people they’ve turned into after the summer.

My wish for our students is that they find time to relax and find some much-needed peace this summer. As parents, I hope you also find some peace and make great memories with your children.

One thing that I can say about Dulwich College Seoul is that our students, for the most part, do try to respect and care for others. That shows me that their parents are also trying to do the same thing. I also believe that our teachers try to do this as well.

But we can all do even more. My challenge to our students, parents, and teachers is to go out this summer and give the best of ourselves to those we encounter. Whether it be towards leaving students, new people we meet this summer, or to family we haven’t seen in a long time, we all have the opportunity to make a positive mark on whoever we meet. From the counselling department, I just want to say, have a fantastic summer. And if you are leaving DCSL, thank you for being a part of this school and you will be missed.

Dulwich College Seoul Guidelines for Drop-off and Pick-up

We kindly ask that our community adhere to the following guidelines to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our students, parents and staff.

Dos:

  1. Follow Staff Directions: Adhere to the instructions of our traffic control staff wearing reflective vests for safety and efficiency.
  1. Quick and Efficient Drop-off/Pick-up: Limit your stop to the time needed for children to enter or exit the vehicle. Avoid getting out of your car and use the underground car park if you need to stop for more than a minute.
  1. Prioritize Pedestrians: Always give pedestrians, especially children, the right of way when crossing the street. Drive slowly with caution and be prepared to stop.
  1. Respect Traffic Rules: Obey all traffic signs and road markings. Do not make illegal turns or ignore yellow lines.
  1. Help Drivers to Focus: Place your pet at a safe distance from the driver as it could be dangerous if the pet makes any sudden moves.
  1. Use Alternative Spots for Call Taxis: Avoid rush hour and arrange for pickup away from the school’s main entrance as taxis waiting for passengers often disrupt traffic.
  1. Be Courteous: Treat other parents, staff, and students with kindness and respect.

Don’ts:

  1. Don’t Block Traffic: Avoid double parking or stopping in a way that obstructs traffic flow.
  1. Don’t Use Your Phone: Refrain from using your mobile phone while in the school zone.
  1. Don’t Park Illegally: Do not park on or near pedestrian crossings and do not leave your car unattended at any time. Fines will be charged by traffic police.
  1. Don’t Rush: Avoid speeding and hurried maneuvers in the school zone.
  1. No Hagwon Shuttles Allowed: Hagwon (private academies) shuttle buses are not allowed to stop and pick up students in front of the school. Refrain from having students be picked up by Hagwon shuttles from school.
