Whole School

Pride Month

Dulwich College Seoul’s aspiration is for all students to reach their full potential as human beings.  Accordingly, the College aims to be an inclusive environment where pupils of all backgrounds, races, religions, and gender dispositions feel equally welcome and valued.

June is Pride Month which aims to raise awareness of LGBTQ+ and promote freedom and equal rights for all people. As open-minded and curious learners, the students at DCSL have expressed an interest in learning more about varying types of equal rights and diversity. Pride Month, therefore, gives another chance to celebrate and learn about the unique differences of individuals in our global community and further afield.

Throughout June, our students will have opportunities to learn more about modern and historical LGBTQ+ figures, equal rights, and differences in relationships through PSHE lessons. In addition, there will be optional activities such as crosswords, word searches, and mindfulness colouring, along with student surveys to gather information on how Dulwich College Seoul can be even more inclusive in supporting our diverse community in the Senior school. In Primary school, students will explore stories that celebrate individuals’ differences and look at the damaging effects of gender stereotypes.

Thank you for your support of our diversity, equity and inclusion values and we look forward to sharing our progress with you in future newsletters.

Founder’s Day 2023 Information

Event Overview

Founder’s Day is our biggest community celebration of the year featuring games and activities, performances, and food vendors. It is a chance for us to honour our rich heritage dating back to 1619 when our founder Edward Alleyn established our Founding School in London. It is also an opportunity to bring our diverse community together, connect and promote the Dulwich values of kindness and sustainability. Partnering with the British Embassy this year, we are commemorating the historic milestone of 140 years of relations between the UK and Korea.

Founder’s Day is a chance to connect with others in the community against the backdrop of a fun festival atmosphere. We are now planning for the Dulwich Olympiad 2024. This extraordinary event, scheduled for March 2024, will be hosted by our sibling school, Dulwich College (Singapore). It follows in the footsteps of the highly successful Olympiads held in Beijing in 2015 and London in 2019. The upcoming Olympiad is particularly special, marking the 10th and 20th anniversaries of Dulwich College (Singapore) and Dulwich College International, respectively. This grand celebration of art, drama, dance, music and sport will bring together students from across our Dulwich family who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and engagement in these areas.

Scheduled for 18-22 March 2024, the Olympiad promises to be an event filled with workshops, performances and competitions, all culminating in a spectacular closing ceremony. Beyond the main events, there will also be a wonderful array of cultural and social activities that will further enhance the overall experience. This unique and special event presents an invaluable opportunity for our students in Years 7, 8, 9 and 11 to expand their horizons, learn new skills, and form lasting friendships.

To ensure fair representation, our selection process will take into account a combination of factors such as academic achievements, commitment, teamwork capabilities, and passion for the subject matter.
