Year 3 Garden Project
Last year’s Year 3 students (now in Year 4) were recently invited back by the current Year 3 team to revisit the garden they had planted before the summer break. Having learned about plants, pollinators, and the environment last year, they applied their knowledge outdoors, taking responsibility for their own plots. Although they missed seeing the garden grow over the summer, their visit this term allowed them to witness the full growth of their hard work. It was wonderful to see their reactions and surprise at how much everything had thrived.

Kunho Wins 1st Prize at Steinway Competition and Prepares for Solo Recital
We are thrilled to share the outstanding achievement of Year 11 student Kunho (Year 11). Kunho was awarded 1st prize in the Junior Category (ages 15-25) at the 3rd Steinway Amateur Competition, which took place in May 2024. Following this remarkable accomplishment, he recently performed at the prestigious Winners Concert at Bucheon Art Center Concert Hall.
As part of his prize, Kunho will also have the opportunity to perform a solo recital on 30 November, 2024, at Steinway Hall, fully sponsored by Steinway Korea. He invites the entire school community to join him for this special event, where he looks forward to sharing his music with friends, families, and teachers. More details regarding the recital will be shared in early November.

Kimba: poet coming soon!
In November, we welcome London-based poet and rapper Kimba, who is coming to work with our students in both Primary and Senior School. Kimba promises to be a truly entertaining speaker and an inspiring figure. Parents have the opportunity *right now* to buy a copy of Kimba’s book in advance, so that your child can be sure of coming home with a signed copy. The book of poetry, ‘Write the Wrongs’, is available for just 10,000 KRW on Tongbang Books’ website here.
Winter Uniform Transition
With the cooler weather settling in, please note that we will be transitioning to the winter uniform starting on Monday. All students should wear long-sleeved Dulwich College uniform shirts and long trousers or kilts. Juniors are reminded to wear their ties neatly. Blazers are optional from Monday to Thursday but are required on Fridays when we have our assemblies. We appreciate your support in helping students prepare for this change and ensuring they adhere to the dress code.
Sibling Applications for 2025/26 Academic Year are Now Open
Applications for the upcoming academic year 2025/26, commencing in August 2025, are now open for DCSL families first. We invite our current DCSL families to submit applications for any siblings you may wish to enrol at Dulwich College Seoul by Thursday, 31 October 2024. We currently have waitlists in multiple year groups and expect classes to fill up quickly. We encourage you to apply early to secure your child’s space. This will ensure that those children deemed admissible will receive sibling priority. Please note that sibling applicants still need to go through our standard process to determine admissibility and admissions is not guaranteed.

This is a gentle reminder of the withdrawal notice for Term 2 2024-25. Kindly disregard this notice if your child(ren) are continuing their education at Dulwich College Seoul in January 2025 or if you have already submitted the withdrawal form. Please complete the DCSL Withdrawal Form by 15 October 2024 if your child(ren) will not be returning for Term 2 commencing on 6 January 2025. Please check the emails sent on 23 September for more details.

Global Citizenship Introductions
We are excited to introduce ourselves as the new Global Citizenship Leads at Dulwich College, Seoul. We are Lynsey Gogin and Lara Small, and we are honoured to join this vibrant community to support and advance our schools mission to inspire students to grow as global citizens who make a positive difference in the world.
One of our goals is to create meaningful, inclusive experiences that reflect and celebrate our diverse community. To achieve this, we are reaching out to invite enthusiastic volunteers to help mentor individuals and contribute to a variety of initiatives. We believe that your unique perspectives and experiences will greatly enrich our Global Citizenship programs.

Call for Submissions
A new student-led journal called Student Pedagogies of Asian America based in the US is calling for submissions from high school and college students worldwide to contribute to its inaugural issue with a theme of Borders. Please note you do not have to identify as Asian American to submit a contribution. Click on the link to read more about submission guidelines.
Background
Student Pedagogies of Asian America was created out of the desire to provide an academic platform for high school and college students to critically and creatively discuss progressive topics that impact family, community, as well as national and global matters. The world of Asian American Studies has largely been solely for adult scholars up until now. Our journal seeks to insert young scholars’ voices in this current void.
Our vision for knowledge production and content about Asian America is one of inclusivity and allyship/solidarity that does not limit Asian America or Asian American conversations to those who identify as Asian American. We want to ground this project on the idea that “Asian America” itself is less of a physical identity and more of a discursive community of diverse, various identities. In that regard, we think conversations on histories, cultures, politics, and identities can be more capacious than how they have been understood in the past. We seek to foster the critical voices of students in education whereby students are agents of their own learning and use their whole selves to produce knowledge. Student pedagogy recognizes the importance of addressing the inequities of power, status, socioeconomics, education, and more.
