Songdo 7s Tournament

Dulwich College Seoul took an unprecedented 13 teams to Songdo 7s tournament this last weekend, with over 140 students from our Primary and Middle School age groups competing against other International Schools on the peninsula.

With teams from Year 3 to Year 8 testing themselves over the course of the weekend, and featuring group stages on Saturday and knockout games on Sunday, our teams provided fantastic excitement and entertainment to families who’d made the trip out to Incheon to give their support.

With five individual girls teams competing in the tournament (Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, Year 6, and Year 7/8), we showed that football is firmly established as a sport for girls here at Dulwich College Seoul, and hopes were high of replicating the success of the Year 6 girls from Dulwich Games in Beijing. Our Year 3 girls took bronze. The Year 4 girls had a wonderful run to the final, only narrowly losing 1-0 to take the silver. Our Year 5 girls had a fantastic tournament and developed a lot as a team. Our Year 6 girls were cruelly defeated on penalties in both the semi-final and the bronze medal match, but showed great spirit as a team with wonderful potential. Our Year 7 and Year 8 girls faced some stiff competition, but played admirably, and developed as a team over the course of the weekend with some tight games.

Our boys teams fared equally well in the younger age groups. The Year 3 boys took the bronze medal. The Year 4 boys came up just short in the semi-final and in the 3rd place game. Our Year 5 boys worked very hard to grow and come together as a team over the course of the weekend, while our Year 6 boys also suffered a cruel penalty loss in the semi-final against NLCS in a drawn-out thriller. The boys went on to easily dispatch of the competition in the 3rd place game to secure the bronze medal. The Year 7 and Year 8 teams worked very hard, growing with each game and losing another tight one 3-2 on penalties against SFS.

With fantastic support on the sidelines from parents and brothers/sisters, and the great support from coaches and teaching staff, Dulwich College Seoul students can be truly proud of a fantastic performance representing their school. The future is strong for our teams, and we’ll continue to push on with training as often as possible, whilst remembering to play in the spirit of inclusivity.

Global Warriors Charity Drives

Christmas Gift Drive: We are the Global Warriors at Primary School. Christmas is just around the corner! It’s time for the Dulwich Christmas Gift Drive, and we would like you to sign up to give presents to children without families through Open Arms Korea!

Please check your inboxes for an email titled ‘Primary Charity Committee Gift Drive 2023’ or click on this link to sign up.

PLP Trust Winter Coat Drive: For this drive, we aim to support children at a school in Pakistan who need our help. Many children there don’t have warm jackets, so as the weather gets colder, we’re seeking donations of children’s coats. There is a collection trolley in the reception area.

As global warriors, we sincerely thank you for your help!

Door Closure Request

We kindly request that you keep the doors leading to the gym from the foyer closed, given the recent drop in temperature. Additionally, please ensure the main entrance doors remain closed. This is necessary for our record-keeping purposes, as IB students need to tag in and out each time they exit the building. Thank you for your cooperation.

Safety Measures for Hot Drinks on School Premises

In the interest of ensuring a safer environment for all—students, staff, parents, and guests—anyone carrying a hot drink while walking through areas of the school is required to use a tumbler or a covered mug.

This precautionary measure aims to mitigate the risk of accidental spills, which could potentially cause harm. We are committed to fostering a secure atmosphere within our school, and this policy is a proactive step towards that commitment.

Your cooperation in adhering to this new safety guideline is highly appreciated. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and welcoming space for everyone in our Dulwich community.

Hand Hygiene: Let’s Keep Our Community Healthy

Just a friendly reminder to help keep our community healthy by practicing good hand hygiene. Please wash your hands thoroughly using soap, particularly after using bathroom facilities, help prevent the spread of germs. Thank you.
