KAIAC Volleyball Succes!
This season has been an exciting one for our varsity volleyball teams, with both the girls’ and boys’ teams displaying incredible skill, determination, and teamwork. We are thrilled to announce that both teams finished in second place in their respective divisions—a remarkable achievement that reflects their hard work and dedication on and off the court!
Throughout the season, the girls’ team impressed us with their strong serves, strategic play, and cohesive teamwork. Under the guidance of Coach Seong Yee they faced tough opponents with resilience, embodying great team spirit. They fought hard in every game and showed true grit as they progressed through the season, ultimately securing a well-deserved second-place finish in the league.
The boys’ team, led by Coach Hong Jeong showcased incredible athleticism and tenacity. Their powerful spikes, precise blocks, and solid defense made them a challenge for every opponent. The team faced a series of tough matches but showed determination to rise to the occasion each time. With great discipline, the boys’ team worked together seamlessly, pushing each other but also supporting each other.
We are incredibly proud of both teams for their achievements this season. Well done to all involved.
Thank you to all the coaches and parents for your support. And, of course, congratulations once again to our varsity volleyball teams on a fantastic season!

Congratulations to DCSL’s First Planet Hackers!
Last weekend, students came together to showcase their STEM research, problem-solving, and design skills. Their hard work culminated in a compelling video presentation, where they outlined the challenges in their chosen neighborhoods, presented their imaginative solutions, and shared the research supporting their innovative ideas. It was a remarkable display of creativity and teamwork!
Students from Year 7 to Year 13, across four teams and two categories, took on the exciting Planet Hack challenge—a collaborative event by Dulwich College Beijing, Australian National University, and Education in Motion. This year’s “City Hack” theme encouraged students to propose sustainable and biophilic improvements for local neighborhoods, addressing real urban issues with creative solutions.
Through research into groundbreaking neighborhood revitalization projects, students crafted their own visionary design plans. Hands-on workshops introduced them to biophilic design principles, environmental architecture, and the role of AI in concept development. They also learned to innovate with Microbits, create architectural models, and translate ideas into actionable plans.
Throughout these sessions, students collaborated with industry experts, including Professor Sarah Clement, Timothy Pyles, Stephen Kaye, Tom Cawley, and d’Arcy Lunn, asking insightful questions that deepened their understanding and sparked further creativity.
The Junior Category was represented by Pari (Year 9), Simran (Year 9), Bella (Year 9), Tia (Year 9), Shivika (Year 8), Mrudul (Year 7), Mikail (Year 7), and Erin (Year 7).
The Senior Category was represented by Kris (Year 11), Eric (Year 13), Angela (Year 12), Ella (Year 11), Grace (Year 11), Karan (Year 11), Woojin (Year 10), Sein (Year 10), Phyllis (Year 10), Arav (Year 10), and Gurutva (Year 10).
The winning team from each category will go on to compete for the grand prize, presented by Australian National University in collaboration with EiM and DCB.
Good luck to both teams!
Exciting News!
At the close of the event, Planet Hackers were thrilled to meet Professor Sarah Clement during her visit to DCSL. Over lunch, students had the chance to ask her additional questions on urban development, sustainability, and biophilic design.
Building on the success of this year’s challenge, the new Planet Hack 2025 ECA will begin in Term 2, offering students the chance to organize and prepare for the next challenge. All current Planet Hack participants and interested Year 7 to Year 13 students are welcome to join.

Sweet Success: Students Master the Art of Tanghulu
This week, a group of senior school students had a sweet and exciting time as they participated in the cooking ECA session where they learned to make Tanghulu, sugar-coated fruits. The hands-on experience of dipping fruit in hot syrup was both fun and educational, offering a unique way to connect with another culture. Students thoroughly enjoyed the activity and were thrilled with the delicious results!
Kimba: Poet Visit
Born in New Jersey, now based in London, poet and hip-hop artist Kimba will be in school with us on Monday and Tuesday next week, spreading his energy and enthusiasm for the spoken word throughout the school!

Your child can then get Kimba to sign their copy at his signing session during lunch break. If you haven’t already bought a copy, we will be selling them for ₩10,000 during the signing sessions; if you would like your child to buy one, please ensure they bring the exact money in cash with them, as we cannot give change.

SSAEM Peer Mentoring
The Year 12 and Year 13 students are re-introducing the new SSAEM peer mentoring program for this term!
‘SSAEM’, which roughly translates to ‘tutor’ in Korean vernacular, is designed to help younger students (Year 7 to Year 11) with academics and other things relating to the senior school. It can be a great way to gain insight into IB students’ perspectives on school and also to discuss topics that are more suitable for a mature student body.
Mentees will be joined up as either single sessions (one mentor and one mentee) or double sessions (one mentor and two mentees), depending on the mentees’ choices. Scheduling for meetings will happen individually via email between the mentors and the mentees, which can happen anytime from lunchtime to 4.30pm after school.
For students wishing to become mentees for this term, please fill out this form.
We look forward to seeing more students sign up!
