The temperatures have dropped, but that has not slowed the energy and enthusiasm within the school. Learning continues at pace, with students engaging in a range of academic and enrichment opportunities. To ensure their wellbeing, please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. With temperatures below zero, students will not be allowed outside without a coat or suitable cold-weather gear. On that note, we would like to share a uniform amendment. Students have given feedback about the challenges of sourcing appropriate grey tights. Therefore, students may now wear navy blue tights as part of the winter uniform.
The chilly conditions were perfect for our ski days, and on Tuesday, our Year 7 and Year 8 students—ranging from complete beginners to experienced skiers—had a brilliant time on the slopes. We are sure our Year 9 to Year 11 students will have just as much fun on their trip next Tuesday, 11 February.
Thursday was an exciting day of competition, with students showcasing their knowledge of geography, history, economics and psychology in the highly anticipated Humanities Bee and Bowl. With Year 6 students in attendance, house teams battled it out through Kahoot quizzes and fastest-buzzer rounds. A huge thank you to the Humanities team—John Allen, Lucy Haley, Carlo Contrino, Antonia Snower, and Joey Mellows—for organising this fantastic event.
Also on Thursday, our Year 9 students began their journey as peer mentors. Over the next year, they will be paired with Year 6 students, supporting them as they transition into the Senior School. Working with the Oppidan Education mentoring team, Year 9 students spent the session reflecting on their own experiences and discussing the roles of both mentor and mentee. Mentoring builds confidence, empathy, leadership, and a sense of responsibility—key skills that will serve them well beyond school.
This week, our Year 11 and Year 13 students received their mock results. We replicate the experience of results day to remove the mystique and reduce anxiety, ensuring students feel prepared for the real thing. We know parents will be keen to discuss targets during the online PTSC on Monday, as students refine their study plans in the lead-up to final exams.
It was lovely to see so many of you at the Cambridge University session on Tuesday, where we gained valuable insights into the admissions process and student life at this esteemed institution. For those who were unable to attend, our UCC sessions will incorporate learnings and examples.
There have been lots of discussions and queries from our Parent Rep community. We are delighted to announce Maria Cruz-Perez has joined as Year 11 Parent Representative. Please contact her via cruzmaru@hotmail.com. A copy of Parent Rep minutes is linked for reference.
Looking ahead, the Year 7 to Year 10 online PTSC sign-up is now open for 19 February. Meanwhile, High School students are preparing for their Prom on 14 February at the Riverside—a well-earned celebration marking the end of the exam season and a wonderful opportunity to connect with friends.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Warm regards,
Suzanne Pugh

Cambridge University Presentation
Dulwich College Seoul was delighted to host an exclusive, in-person University of Cambridge information and Q&A session on Tuesday, 4 February. This event for Year 10 to Year 12 students and families demystified the Cambridge admissions process, explained the collegiate system, provided interview tips and covered all things related to studying at Cambridge.
We were pleased so many students and families joined us for this opportunity to learn more about one of the world’s most prestigious universities. We look forward to welcoming Cambridge and other universities for similar events in the future.
Humanities Bee and Bowl: A House Event to Remember!
The Humanities Bee and Bowl brought excitement and fierce competition to DCSL as students from all year groups tested their knowledge in History, Geography, Economics, and Psychology. The event showcased the incredible enthusiasm and expertise of our school community. Seacole emerged as the overall winners, but the real victory was in the fantastic participation from all houses. The competition wasn’t just limited to the stage—students also engaged in a lively auditorium Kahoot, making sure everyone had a chance to get involved. A special mention goes to Year 6, who had the unique opportunity to experience a secondary assembly and house event, giving them an exciting glimpse of what’s to come. A huge well done to all competitors, teachers, and supporters for making the Humanities Bee and Bowl a truly memorable event!
Book Fair
DB Books are returning to Dulwich College for a three-day Book Fair next week! There will be an irresistible selection of books in English for all ages, at lower prices than in Korea’s major bookstores. Primary students, and those in Years 7 to 8, will have a set time to visit the fair with their class teacher, while older students are encouraged to visit at break and lunch times or after school. Most books are priced in the range of KRW 10,000-20,000, so please send your child with an appropriate amount of cash if you would like them to buy something.
Parents are welcome to visit the fair in the B1 lobby area between 3.30 and 4.30pm each day. It’s a great opportunity for you and your child to find your next favourite book. Happy reading!

Valentine’s Day is Coming! – Written by Social Media ECA Club
For Valentine’s Day, two of our Year 12 students have organized a Valentine’s Day Charity Sale for Senior School. They sent a form to all Senior School students, giving them the option to purchase chocolates or a rose for their friends or partners. The organizing committee will then hand-deliver the chocolates and roses—either anonymously or with the sender’s name attached.
If requested, the committee will also write a heartfelt card on behalf of the sender. We are excited to announce that all Valentine’s Day forms have been submitted, and the form has been closed since Monday.
On 14 February, the gifts will be delivered to their recipients. Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!

SSAEM Peer Mentoring
The Year 12 and Year 13 students are re-introducing the new SSAEM peer mentoring program for this term!
‘SSAEM’, which roughly translates to ‘tutor’ in Korean vernacular, is designed to help younger students (Year 7 to Year 11) with academics and other things relating to the senior school. It can be a great way to gain insight into IB students’ perspectives on school and also to discuss topics that are more suitable for a mature student body.
Mentees will be joined up as either single sessions (one mentor and one mentee) or double sessions (one mentor and two mentees), depending on the mentees’ choices. Scheduling for meetings will happen individually via email between the mentors and the mentees, which can happen anytime from lunchtime to 4.30pm after school.
For students wishing to become mentees for this term, please fill out this form.
We look forward to seeing more students sign up!
The Year 12 and Year 13 SSAEM mentoring group.
