We have appreciated the opportunity to reflect with our colleagues from Dulwich College Singapore and Puxi this week. Being part of the EiM family of schools enables our students and staff to connect, collaborate, and share best practices. The QA visit has been no exception, and the team have thoroughly enjoyed meeting our staff, students, and parents. As always, they have been impressed by the kindness, community spirit, curiosity, and high standards that define our school. They have posed some thought-provoking questions, which we will be incorporating into our strategic planning going forward.

Parents unpacked the English curriculum in an engaging workshop with Frank Ventham, Head of English. Sharing samples of IB English learning helped parents gain a deeper understanding of the end goals and the rich array of skills and literary techniques students develop over time.

This week has been full of creativity and collaboration. On Thursday, the school was alive with showtunes for the much-anticipated House Shout. It never fails to amaze me how talented our students are and what they can achieve when they work together. A huge thank you to the House Leadership team, led by Mark Knights, Director of Music, and George Welsby, Head of Houses, for guiding such a joyful and uplifting event.

Our Year 8 students, alongside Lynsey Gogin, Global Citizenship Lead, have been exploring the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and were inspired by a visit from World Concern, an international humanitarian organisation working towards a world free from poverty, fear, and oppression. These global conversations are integral to developing our students’ social responsibility and global-mindedness.

The highlight of the term was today’s Careers Fair, hosted by the University and Careers Counselling (UCC) team. We were privileged to welcome 25 professionals from a range of fields, who led introductory sessions for our students covering diverse career pathways. Students relished the chance to ask challenging and insightful questions, gaining a deeper understanding of the realities of different careers and the routes to access them. The UCC team will continue these important conversations in the coming terms, ensuring our students feel informed and empowered about their future choices.

I will now leave you as I head to the opening of the IB Art Exhibition—a masterclass in brushstrokes of brilliance. I urge you all to visit the exhibition in the foyer over the coming month and celebrate the creativity, vision, and skill of our IB artists.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

SSAEM Peer Mentoring

The Year 12 and Year 13 students are re-introducing the new SSAEM peer mentoring program for this term!
‘SSAEM’, which roughly translates to ‘tutor’ in Korean vernacular, is designed to help younger students (Year 7 to Year 11) with academics and other things relating to the senior school. It can be a great way to gain insight into IB students’ perspectives on school and also to discuss topics that are more suitable for a mature student body.
Mentees will be joined up as either single sessions (one mentor and one mentee) or double sessions (one mentor and two mentees), depending on the mentees’ choices. Scheduling for meetings will happen individually via email between the mentors and the mentees, which can happen anytime from lunchtime to 4.30pm after school.
For students wishing to become mentees for this term, please fill out this form.
We look forward to seeing more students sign up!
