Dear Primary Families,
Wishing you a great long weekend and hope to see you on the Hike on Sunday, and/or on campus for the Year 6 and Year 2 Morning Mingles next week. I’m meeting the hardworking Parent Reps on Monday at 9am, so please send your Rep your feedback so they can share it (urgent or more personal matters should come directly to me though please).
Songdo Sevens this Weekend:
Our students played with determination, great manners and increasing skills last weekend at the Songdo Sevens. The teams had really gelled and this great camaraderie could be seen as they hit high and low points over the two days’ intensive competition. Skilfully guided by our staff and coaches, the children put their all into the contests and we couldn’t be prouder of the athletes and team players they are becoming!
Morning Mingles are Back with Year 4
Many thanks to the dozens of Year 4 parents who join us for sausage rolls, muffins and fruit at Wednesday’s Morning Mingle. The Year 4 student were smartly dressed and spoiled their families with expert service and great manners. Parents met new friends and many had a quick trip down the Dulwich Drop – and all before 8.30am!

We need your help for Dulwich Ducklings!
Sophie Cran, our amazing DUCKLINGs parent who set up this lovely and really important programme is ready to hand it on to another DCSL parent in the coming months. It’s perfect for a parent who is free on Wednesday morning – having your own baby/toddler to take along is entirely optional! If you would like to take over the group, chat to Sophie about how it works and confirm with Mrs Smith if you are interested.
In short, the lead person for Dulwich DUCKLINGs would set up the MPR (F1) with the toys and equipment (all provided), welcome attendees and encourage everyone to connect and have some relaxed fun. Then at the end of the session tidy away. There’s lots of friendly support from school and huge appreciation for bringing our youngest siblings together to play.

Kimba: poet visit
Born in New Jersey, now based in London, poet and hip-hop artist Kimba will be in school with us on Monday and Tuesday next week, spreading his energy and enthusiasm for the spoken word throughout the school!
If you have already bought a copy of his book, Write the Wrongs, through the dbBooks website, we will have the book ready for your child to collect on the day (Monday for Senior and Tuesday for Primary). Your child can then get Kimba to sign their copy at his signing session during lunch break. If you haven’t already bought a copy, we will be selling them for ₩10,000 during the signing sessions; if you would like your child to buy one, please ensure they bring the exact money in cash with them, as we cannot give change.
Movember
Teachers and members of the SWAT Student Wellbeing Action Team have been wearing moustaches to support ‘Movember’.
Movember supports Men’s Health, the idea is that by sporting a moustache, everyone can show their commitment to raising awareness and promoting discussions about health challenges that affect men.
Audition for Lunar New Year Assembly MCs
We are excited to announce that our Lunar New Year Assembly will be held on January 24, 2025. Therefore, we are planning to offer an audition for choosing MCs (Masters of Ceremonies) for the assembly. All students from Year 5 to Year 12 with an interest in being an MC are welcome to participate, regardless of Chinese language fluency. Please note that the MCs do not need to be super fluent in Chinese to the audition, but they should be prepared to dedicate some of their free time or a few break times for rehearsals before the event.
Audition Times:
- Primary: November 21 & November 28, Thursday, 11.45am. – 12.15pm.
- Senior: November 21 & November 28 , Thursday, 1pm. – 1.30pm.
Location: Mandarin classroom 304A
Audition Details: To help the candidates prepare, we have sent samples of a few lines in the Mandarin class Teams for students to memorize and present at the audition. We encourage the students to challenge themselves, even if they feel outside of their comfort zone. Skipping difficult parts is fine, but we are looking forward to seeing more people to involved in the events.
Please fill up the survey if your child is willing to attend the audition. The survey link will be shared with your child’s Mandarin teacher or you can fill up from this link. Please sign up with your child’s school email address.
Please feel free to reach out to your child’s Mandarin teacher or Ms Dong for any further information. melody.dong@dulwich-seoul.kr
