Primary School

Dear Primary Families,

Year 6’s Adventures in Hong Kong!

Our eldest Juniors have had an amazing time in the New Territories, Hong Kong. Led by our staff and APA, our providers, students hiked, camped and abseiled out of their comfort zone. They have come back glowing with their achievements and stories of supportive peers, caring staff and adventures abroad! Watch the video from the Year 6 trip to Hong Kong below.

DUCKS 1 Exhibition

Nursery to Year 1 demonstrated care and excitement today while showing the community around their Exhibition. The event was a celebration of DUCKS 1 creativity and growing artistic skill. Thank you to all who attended and enabled the students to greet guests and guide them through their hard work.

EiM Heads of DUCKS, Juniors and Primary Visit DCSL

We were so pleased to welcome the Heads of several EiM schools to DCSL this week. The Heads from Puxi, Pudong, Singapore, Dehong, Green School Bali and Suzhou all joined us on Thursday and Friday for our annual two-day Heads Conference. These events are essential for Heads across the group to share successes and learn from each other. Our topics this year have been ‘AI for Primary Schools’, ‘Device use in Junior School Classes’, ‘New facilities in Campuses Across the Group’ and ‘Helping Students Avoid Feelings of Eco-anxiety. Thank you to the Year 4 students who toured the special visitors around school, talking them through our programmes and facilities. Our guests noted how thoughtful the guides were plus how knowledgeable they were on the Houses and the College’s development.

Golden Coat Hanger Award: Are Students “Dressed for Success?”

Each week, this prestigious award is given to the class in a Year Group who has shown the greatest effort and attention to detail in dressing smartly and being well prepped for school. Are our black shoes shining; are shirts crisply tucked in, and are our ties snugly at our top buttons?

Y3: 3P

Y4: 4W

Y5: All Year 5 classes sparkled in their best-dressed uniforms for the MUN conference

Y6: 6B

Some Highlights this Week:

The Year 5/ Year 6 MUN Conference has been great event this week. Students have debated, discussed and argued around their provoking questions and others’ motions. This is a hugely valuable event for our older Juniors to increase their public speaking skills and confidence in creating arguments which persuade and convince. Friday’s Closing Ceremony was a thoughtful reflection of the two days debate and many thanks to families who were able to attend. Our MUN Team departs next week for Shanghai, where Dulwich College Pudong will host the annual MUN Conference for the group.

Eco-Warriors Meet d’Arcy Lunn!

The Eco-Warriors were fortunate to have a visit from d’Arcy Lunn, founder of Teaspoons of Change, to explain how small actions, like recycling, saving water, and using less plastic, can make a big difference for the environment. d’Arcy shared how he started caring for the planet after he left school and now helps schools across Dulwich learn how to protect the Earth and be more sustainable.

During the visit, the Eco-Warriors also discussed some of their upcoming projects with d’Arcy, including making bird boxes and feeders to encourage more wildlife around campus, and finding ways to help students and staff at DCSL reduce their food waste.

His message was clear: small changes lead to big impacts. Thanks, d’Arcy, for inspiring us to make positive changes and take action for our planet!

World Story Telling Day Charity Event for ‘Good Neighbors Korea’ & Eco-Warriors pre-loved book collection

On Thursday, 20 March, we will celebrate World Story Telling Day with a cosy but fun charity event for ‘Good Neighbors Korea’. The children can wear their pajamas or comfortable home wear to school and bring in their favourite book (& a small cuddly toy)! Their book can be in any language that they like. Please bring in a donation of KRW 3,000 or more for ‘Good neighbors Korea’. This is the charity we are supporting as they help children and young people who are unwell and living in difficult conditions in Korea.

In addition, if you have any pre-loved, used but in good condition books at home that you would like to donate, please pop them into the collection box which will be in the 1F lobby.

Menu for lunches and snacks:

Our students are great eaters and really enjoy the 8-10 separate offerings each lunchtime from salad, meat dishes, rice or pasta, fruit, raw veggies, and vegetarian options too. Click here for the March 2025 menu.

Weekly Parent Workshops:
