Dear Primary Families,
What a wonderful year we have had and I hope you have enjoyed the new Yearbook which has captured some of the many events across the terms.
To our leaving students and families:
Thank you for your caring friendships and all your efforts for our class communities and the wider College. We wish you safe travels this summer and a smooth transition to your new homes and schools. Send us a postcard from time to time to let us know how you are doing, and if we can ever assist you in the future, please let us know – it would be our pleasure.
Year 6 Graduation
On Wednesday we celebrated the Year 6 students’ end of Primary School at Graduation. It was a joyous occasion shared with parents, siblings, Year 5 students and teachers, where the students were awarded Graduation certificates as well as medals for The Year 6 Award. It was a time to reflect on the happy memories and moments from Year 6 and indeed over the years. We had excellent musical performances from the Year 6 students including an excellent opening number singing The Climb. We could not be prouder of the students, and we wish them the very best of luck as they move on to Senior School.
PS Class Rep Meeting
We held our final meeting of the year and please find the meeting summary here.
Grateful thanks to our hard working and caring Reps who have gone above and beyond to share families’ feedback with the Primary School this year! You have been of great service to our community.
Year 1 visit to Ducksoo Daycare
Year 1 had a lovely day trip to the daycare facility in northern Seoul to link up again with the senior citizens there and share some of their learning. Thank you to the Year 1 team for putting together this rich inter-generational learning experience for our DUCKS.
Uniform for August:
Please check the current Parent Handbook for details of the uniform your child needs for August. This is especially important for students joining Year 3 from DUCKS.
Please note – all students are required to wear black sneakers (DUCKS) and black school shoes/sneakers as part of their daily uniform. Please aim to purchase these over the summer break to ensure your child is properly dressed from day one of term 1.
End of Term Assembly
Our final assembly was a lively celebration of student leadership and a chance to say goodbye to leaving community members. The Reception students opened the event with a beautiful song and the musical acts kept on coming! Student leaders were honored as were the leaving staff – with a special ‘hurrah’ for Mr Jonsson, our ‘kindest Head in the Universe’.
Assemblies This Week:
Monday’s Assembly for Years 1-3 was led by Mrs Smith and during it we considered what activities might be fun in the summer holidays and what might be helpful to others as well. We also focused on contribution to family life by doing chores to help (see below for suggestions to help your child grow in confidence, skills and empathy for others).
EYFS Assembly (Nursery and Reception): We enjoyed the Whole School assembly in the morning and in the afternoon said our goodbyes to Mr Loft and Ms Gauci. We reflected on our time as DUCKS1 together.
Summer Reading is Essential:
Please find below suggestions for free resources for your child’s summer reading. We strongly recommend that students boost their reading this summer with a minimum of 15 minutes daily and DUCKS and 30 mins daily for Juniors, using ‘real books or online versions.
