DCSL’s Response to Poor Air Quality:
External Air Quality
We monitor the outdoor air quality in real time (via a monitoring station very close to school) and this information is displayed around school in the form of easy-to-understand coloured symbols so that the community can see and understand quickly. Staff have this information on their school devices too. The College’s Air Pollution Response can be found on the Parent Portal.
The most common scenario on poor air days is that DUCKS or all students stay indoors at breaks and lunchtime where we know the air is cleaner. On poorer air days some/all outdoor PE and trips may be cancelled (depending on the severity of the pollution). Indoor trips (such as Receptions’ to the aquarium on Thursday) go ahead.
Inside the Classrooms and Indoor Spaces:
All classrooms and teaching spaces have air filtration systems built into the ceiling which run all day and all year. We also have stand-alone air purifiers in offices. We monitor real-time the air quality classroom by classroom, and email advice to staff on poor air days before school starts in the morning and just before lunch so that we know if playtimes are in/outside and if outdoor activity can go ahead.

Head of College Interviews:
The Primary House Captains were thoughtful and eloquent as they interviewed the Three Head of College candidates. Each prospective Head commented on their maturity, good sense and curiosity to find out more. Well done, Year 6.
Thank you as well to the parents who also assisted us in the recruitment process by agreeing to be part of a panel. Community involvement in decisions such as this is essential.
Details of the new Head of College will be shared with the community in due course. Thank you for your patience.
Pastries for Parents – Pelicans’ Class
Thank you to all the Nursery parents who this week came along to allow themselves to be spoiled by their offspring with a delicious breakfast. Pelicans were keen and excited to be independent helpers and to share pastries and refreshing pastries with mum and dad. Parents and children zipped down the Dulwich Drop and met new friends too. That closes this series of breakfast events for the term. Ideas for the next series to me please.
Reception Trip to Aqua 63 Aquarium
Reception had a lovely time at the aquarium. The children enjoyed looking at the range of aquatic animals. The highlight was the mermaid show which had a Christmas theme but still brought the focus to what we can do to look after the ocean. We want to thank our ever-supportive parent volunteers, a great time was had by all.
Car Park Manners
We would gently remind all parents/drivers that good manners and respectful behaviour is asked for in the car park and when dropping off outside school. As a community, we pride ourselves on courteous behaviour and hope to always set a good example for children near us. Drivers are asked to park appropriately and turn off their engines of waiting for an extended period. Thank you in advance.
Influenza – help us protect our DCSL community
If your child is diagnosed with any type of Influenza, please inform nurse’s office immediately at Nurse@dulwich-seoul.kr or at 02.3015.8520
Staying home
If children catch the flu, they must stay away at least 5 days from school. When they return to school, a doctor’s clearance letter should be submitted directly to the nurse’s office. Children must also be reminded that if he or she has any symptoms after 5 days of onset, he or she must not return to school.
Cold Weather:
Now that winter is upon us, please make sure your child has a warm coat every day as well as a hat and gloves as the temperatures drop further. We play outside throughout the winter, only shortening playtime when the temperature is -10 and below.
