Golden Coat Hanger Award: Are Students “Dressed for Success?”
Each week, this prestigious award is given to the class in a Year Group who has shown the greatest effort and attention to detail in dressing smartly and being well prepped for school. Are our black shoes shining; are shirts crisply tucked in, and are our ties snugly at our top buttons?

Some Highlights this Week:

Year 4G and Year 4R visited the Egyptian Embassy where they had a talk about the ancient Egyptian artifacts on display there. Students were treated to three local delicacies: falafel, pita bread stuffed with spiced mince and sweet honey balls. They challenged His Excellency to read the hieroglyphs which was very tricky! Their questions were impressive – about Egyptian population, the reasons for mummification and how stone carvings were completed.

Year 4’s Scottish Play – MacBeth:

Our Year 4s’ wonderful acting, choreography and stage presence has helped cement this week’s annual production in our minds as one of the best ever! Many congratulations to all in Year 4.

Online Safeguarding Workshop:
Run by Ms Goddard, this well attended session covered all the basics a well-informed parent should know about child protection.
WISE25 Women’s Leadership Conference 21-23 Feb
This weekend DCSL hosts the WISE25 Conference with 180 school leaders (current and future) converging on our campus for two days of workshops and speakers. Events such as these help position DCSL as an employer of choice.

Visiting Author: Mark Grist

Next week sees the arrival of children’s author and poet Mark Grist – Mark Grist. Mark has a special talent for captivating young audiences with his imaginative stories and playful poetry.
This will be a fantastic opportunity for the students in Year 1 – Year 3 to experience stories and poems being created and read by the author. Mark’s visit promises to spark the children’s creativity and inspire a love of poetry. He will be working with our students all week doing workshops.
Limited copies of Mark’s latest books ‘Rhinos Don’t Cry’ and ‘Bears Don’t Get Scared’ will be available to purchase on Friday, 28 February at lunchtime.
If you would like to purchase a copy of one of his books, please send into school with your child an envelope with KRW 10,000 to hand to your child’s class teacher.
World Storytelling Day Charity Event – Thursday, 20 March
It is always a delight to see the children’s delight and love for reading and storytelling to their friends and teachers! On Thursday, 20 March 2025, we will be celebrating World Storytelling Day by asking the children to wear their comfy pajamas to school and bring in their favourite book (in any language they like!) to share and read to their friends. We would also like to ask for a donation of KRW 2,000 for ‘Good Neighbors’ charity.
Have fun and happy reading!
