From our Head of College

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I’m very happy to report that the gym floor is now finished and I must say I am blown away by the wonderful result. I tried the surface out for myself yesterday (believe it or not, I used to play a lot of basketball once upon a time) and it looks and feels great. I would like to thank those involved, from design to logistics, for their fantastic work. Go Leopards!

Today the school was awash in a sea of red for our Hangul Day celebrations. Students raised money for our chosen charities Open Arms and the World Literacy Foundation. I saw many related activities happening around the school, including some very impressive Hangul calligraphy.

I would like to congratulate our new Head Girl Ella H and Head Boy Oscar O, and Deputy Head Girl Eleanor S and Deputy Head Boy Ian K, who formally took up their positions in an official handover ceremony at today’s Senior School assembly.

The new student leadership team was selected from an especially large field of 16 very strong candidates this year. I would like to thank everyone involved for their enthusiastic participation in this important process, and I wish all success for our new Student Leadership Team during their coming tenure.

I must also thank and congratulate the outgoing team, who managed to successfully implement an impressively long list of important reforms over the past year. Thank you for your dedicated service, Kris K, Sophia W, Aaron Y and Jiyoon L.

There was a lovely aroma of Indian cuisine wafting out from the cookery today thanks to the FoD cooking session. Don’t miss the upcoming FoD Social Coffee Morning and Used Book Sale next Thursday morning.

You will have received an invitation to attend the next Dulwich Talk with Ronda Jackson, Vice President of KABOOM, a non-profit based in Washington DC that strives to make children’s play areas more equitable. I’m sure it will be a fascinating presentation.  Please RSVP for the event by filling out the form here.

A reminder that Saturday Sports are cancelled tomorrow to make way for the SC Bank Liverpool Football Club Soccer School taking place on the campus across Saturday and Sunday. We have 26 of our own lucky students taking part in the event, who will get to meet and train with LFC Legend Jason McAteer. What an exciting opportunity for them!

Please enjoy this second consecutive long weekend and Happy Hangul Day!

With my best wishes,

Mr Gudmundur Hegner Jonsson

Head of College
