Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am absolutely thrilled to announce that Dulwich College Seoul has been ranked as the Number 1 IB School in Korea for 2024. This prestigious recognition is a testament to the hard work, resilience, and talent of our students, as well as the unwavering dedication of our teachers. I want to give credit to our Head of Senior School, Ms. Suzy Pugh, for her outstanding leadership in achieving this exceptional result. You can read more about this remarkable accomplishment in the Whole School section of this update. Congratulations to everyone involved—we couldn’t be prouder!
Today, I had the pleasure of attending the British Chamber of Commerce Christmas Lunch (BCCK) at the Grand Hyatt Seoul. It was wonderful to see our very own students’ band playing and student choir joining other school choirs to sing Christmas carols and showcasing their talent in the spirit of holiday celebrations. It was great to see many of our parents there, enjoying the lively atmosphere and celebrating the season together.
This week, we welcomed parents to our Celebrations of Learning for Year 2, Year 3, and Year 4. The students were excited to showcase their work and share their learning journeys with their parents. The spark in their eyes as they explained their projects was apparent, and it reaffirmed the importance of the parents’ support in their child’s learning.
This morning, our DUCKS students enchanted their audience with their delightful production of “The Greatest Snowman.” Dressed in their Christmas-themed costumes, they filled the stage with lovely singing and energetic dancing. Their enthusiasm and joy were infectious, leaving everyone who attended with a smile.
Our Winter Recitals, held on consecutive nights this week, showcased the incredible musical talents of our students. I left extremely impressed seeing them perform with such confidence and poise. They demonstrated not only their musical skills but also their dedication and bravery in taking the stage. A huge thank you to our music teachers for their guidance and support.
Looking ahead, our much-anticipated Winter Bazaar is tomorrow. I hope to see you all there, enjoying the live music, shopping for gifts, sampling delicious food and drinks, and connecting with other parents and staff in our community. Your participation and contributions at events like these bring us together and make our school community the welcoming and kind community that it is. Thank you to Liz Mccarthy and the other volunteers from the Friends of Dulwich (FoD) for organising this event.
With warm regards,
Ms Alison Derbyshire
