Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Gala Ball held at the Conrad on Tuesday was a huge success, bringing over 200 members of our community together for a tremendously enjoyable evening of music, celebration, and camaraderie. This event was made possible by the exceptional efforts of the Friends of Dulwich (FoD) and I extend my sincerest appreciation to Co-Chairs Vicky and Helena and all the volunteers who generously gave their time. The event brought our school community together and created a renewed sense of togetherness and belonging that has been missing in recent times. Thank you to everyone involved for making this such a memorable experience.
This week, our Senior School students had the incredible opportunity to work with Mark Grist, an accomplished poet and performer. Mark spent the entire week with our students, inspiring and guiding them through a series of workshops on rap and poetry. His passion for the topic was evident, and our students were thrilled to work with him. I am grateful to Mark for sharing his expertise and passion with us.
I am excited to watch the Senior School’s production of How to Be an Honest Thief! next week. It’s suitable for the whole family to enjoy and I highly recommend it to members of our Primary School community as well. The showtimes are 5pm Tuesday 7 March and Thursday 9 March. If you would like tickets (free), please email miyoung.kim@dulwich-seoul.kr or visit the special ticket desk located in the College Foyer daily between 3.30pm and 4pm.
We held a Parent Workshop today with Lucien Giordano, the Dulwich Group Director of International Outreach and Alumni Engagement. Lucien, who is visiting us from China, provided exciting insights derived from EiM and Dulwich University Counselling data and outreach, and introduced the global capabilities of the Worldwise Alumni Network, the group-wide alumni community. His expertise and passion for connecting and growing the alumni networks across our family of schools were truly inspiring to those in attendance. I am grateful to Lucien for taking the time to share his valuable insights and for his continued commitment to further strengthening our global alumni community. I look forward to hearing more about his future successes.
Next week, we will be hosting a group of the Dulwich College Singapore (DCSG) College Leadership Team as part of a trial quality assurance initiative. This is an exciting opportunity for us to learn from their unique insights and areas of expertise, while also sharing our strengths with them. The visitors from the Singapore campus are:
- Nick Magnus, DCSG Head of College
- Nick Bevington, DCSG Head of Juniors
- Mel Ellis, DCSG Head of Senior School
- David Fitzgerald, EiM Director of Education
During their visit, we will showcase our best practices and approaches to education, and we will also be engaging in meaningful discussions to further enhance our school’s quality assurance efforts. Following this visit, a team from Dulwich College Seoul, led by myself, will reciprocate by visiting the Dulwich College Singapore campus to share our own insights and learn from their experiences. The shared experience of these two trial quality assurance visits will go on to refine the initiative for expansion across the EiM group of schools later in the year.
I had the great pleasure of engaging with our Primary School Student Council during their weekly meeting today – they were busy collating ideas for school improvement and events that had come through from fellow students. It was wonderful to see how passionate they are about our school and to listen to their views and ideas – I look forward to working with our young student leaders and Mrs Goddard across the remainder of the year.
This afternoon, Senior School students were involved in the House Mural and House Football events. Seeing lots of happy and excited students around campus laughing, smiling and enjoying each other’s company and friendship has been a lovely way to end yet another busy and exciting week at our wonderful school.
With my best wishes,
Mr Guðmundur Hegner Jónsson
Head of College
