Dear Parents and Guardians,
We have come to the last day of Term 2. Time seems to go by so quickly with all the exciting activity and events throughout the entire school. I would like to thank you, our parents, our students and staff for another outstanding term filled with wonderful moments of learning, collaboration and connection.
I was incredibly impressed by the sheer creativity and artistry of our student’s performances that I had the fortune to witness first-hand at the Dulwich Olympiad 2024 in Singapore. I daresay they were hands-down some of the best performances I’ve ever seen in my time as an educator. Our student athletes were equally remarkable not only on their individual achievements but also on their exceptional teamwork in collaborating with students from other Dulwich schools. Well-done to all our students and a big thank you to all our staff and parents who supported this meaningful event.
Our Year 6 students have returned from a week in Hong Kong filled with adventure, cultural immersion, community building and personal responsibility. Our students built tents, went hiking over the rocks at a gorge, enjoyed hearty meals, cleaned up after themselves, prepared packed lunches, went on a beach expedition and did some stream swimming, snorkelling, paddle boarding, and boogie boarding and learned about hydrology. What a fantastic wrap-up to the term for our group of fierce and curious risk-takers!
We celebrated books and a love of reading today for Book Day and our campus was peppered with characters from some of our favourite books. I spotted classic characters such as Harry Potter, Snoopy, Matilda and Li’l Red Riding Hood and some other creative ones including Sherlock Holmes, Spiderman, Alice in Wonderland, Cat in the Hat and Mary Poppins.
We are excited for our very first Prom scheduled for 18 April. We look forward to having our Senior School students unwind and have a great time on the dance floor to celebrate another fantastic year of hard work and making unforgettable memories.
I hope you will enjoy the amazing weather and have a chance to relax and recharge during Spring Break. For those celebrating, I wish you a Happy Easter.
With my best wishes,
Mr Guðmundur Hegner Jónsson
