From our Head of College

Dear Parent/Guardian,

What an incredible and inspiring weekend we just experienced hosting the 2025 WISE (Women in International Schools Empowerment) Conference! I am immensely proud of our community for embracing this significant event that brought together 140 delegates from around the world. The energy, insights, and connections forged over these three days were truly remarkable. Our very own Ms Smith and Ms Pugh did an outstanding job as co-chairs of the hosting committee, ensuring that this was indeed “no ordinary conference” with its stellar lineup of keynote speakers, diverse workshops, and opportunities for professional growth and wellbeing. If you’d like to read more about this wonderful event, including details about the speakers, workshops, and gala evening, please visit the Whole School section of our website.

I am delighted to announce that our new MyDulwich parent platform is now available to all parents! As of today, every parent in our community has access to this streamlined communication tool that brings together timetables, school news, event updates, and more—all in one convenient location. You can access MyDulwich by visiting https://portal-dcsl.dulwich.org/login/ and using your existing iSAMS credentials. To support you in navigating this new platform, we are offering numerous “Genius Bar” drop-in sessions throughout March where our staff will be available to walk you through the key features, answer questions, and help you make the most of its capabilities. While the platform is fully functional, please note that we are still actively developing certain areas and welcome your feedback as we continue to enhance the system. For complete details about MyDulwich, including the schedule of all Genius Bar sessions and how to provide feedback, please see the Whole School section of our website.

I am pleased to report that our recent Parent Community Forum sessions were a success. Thank you to everyone who joined us, whether in person or online, to discuss our school’s ongoing developments. Your engagement and thoughtful questions demonstrate the strong partnership between our school and parent community. I am committed to continuing these valuable conversations and will be hosting these forums on a termly basis going forward. They provide an important opportunity for us to share updates on our progress and hear your perspectives.

I recently had the honor of visiting our long-term supporter, National Assembly member Cho Eun-hee, who has been instrumental to our school since its founding. NA member Cho played a crucial role in establishing our College back in 2010 during her time as Vice-Mayor at Seoul Metropolitan Government, where she worked to attract foreign direct investment to Korea. Throughout her distinguished career, including her two terms as Seocho-gu Governor, she has remained a steadfast advocate for our school. During our meeting, we discussed strengthening our partnership and expanding our contribution to the local community through various initiatives, including the SMOE international joint class program, community service projects, and potential artistic collaborations. We share a commitment to educational excellence and community building, and I was delighted to invite her to our upcoming Founder’s Day in June, where we will launch our 15th anniversary celebrations. For more details about this significant partnership and our discussion, please visit the Whole School section of our website.

I’d like to remind all families that next Monday is a public holiday, and Tuesday is a Professional Learning Day for our staff. This means there will be no school for students until Wednesday. I hope you’ll enjoy this short break with your families. As we move into early March, it’s wonderful to see the weather finally warming up, even if that means we might expect some rainy days ahead. The hints of spring are beginning to show around campus, and it’s a refreshing change after our long winter. I encourage everyone to take advantage of the milder temperatures to spend some time outdoors during the break.

Best regards,
Alison Derbyshire
Head of College
