Dear Parents and Guardians,
Our combined team of 39 Year 5 and Year 6 students have made a triumphant return from the 2023 FOBISIA Games in Thailand. Proudly representing Dulwich College Seoul, they engaged in three intensive days of friendly competition against their peers from British schools across Asia. Between kicks, dives, sprints, and hits in football, swimming, athletics and T-ball, our students accumulated an impressive treasury of bronze, silver and gold medals.
It was wonderful to see our dedicated parents and teachers who enthusiastically supported the teams throughout. Your encouragement surely contributed to their successes and we are profoundly grateful for your support. A huge congratulations to all of our athletes on your effort, determination, sportspersonship and kindness in this competition. You’ve indeed done your school, teachers, families, and most importantly, yourselves, very proud.
The anticipation is building as we look forward to the Dulwich Olympiad 2024, to be hosted by Dulwich College (Singapore) next March. This exceptional event, celebrating the 10th and 20th anniversaries of Dulwich College (Singapore) and Dulwich College International, respectively, will unite students from across our Dulwich family in a grand showcase of art, drama, dance, music, and sport. Our students currently in Years 7, 8, 9, and 11 (who next year will be in Years 8, 9, 10, and 12) will have the unique opportunity to broaden their horizons and build lifelong friendships. Parents of eligible students will have received an email with more details and a link to register their interest. Our fair and thorough selection process will ensure that all students have the chance to participate in this momentous event.
It has been a splendid week for our Year 8 students, who have been out exploring the great outdoors on their residential trip. From ziplining through the treetops to pedalling along scenic trails, they’ve immersed themselves fully in each activity. The photos that have emerged speak volumes about their experiences – radiant faces set against stunning backdrops, encapsulating the spirit of their adventure. Indeed, the beauty of these trips lies not just in the activities themselves, but in those ‘extra bits’ – the simple joys seeing the streams and rivers, listening to the birds, taking in the sights, and, of course, enjoying the odd ice cream with friends.
Founder’s Day is now only one week away. The Friends of Dulwich (FoD) are also seeking volunteers to help with their Used Uniform and Book Sale that they will hold on the day. If you would like to help, please click here to sign up for the Used Uniform Sale and/or here for the Used Book Sale. We are also sharing with you the list of food vendors, games and activities, and lineup of musical performances in the Whole School Section. Thank you for your support.
Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram @dulwichcollegeseoul as we ramp up to Founder’s Day! Each day, we will feature a countdown post that highlights a different aspect of the upcoming celebration. Whether it’s a sneak peek at the food vendors, a behind-the-scenes look at performance preparations, or spotlighting the fun games and activities, we hope you are as excited as we are for the big day of family fun!
With my best wishes,
Mr Guðmundur Hegner Jónsson
