Dear Parents and Guardians,
Today, we had the pleasure of hosting a special event at our school, combining the New Parents Welcome Morning with the Friends of Dulwich (FoD) Social Coffee Morning. As Head of College, I had the opportunity to welcome new parents, introducing them to key figures on our leadership team. Our new parents socialised over pastries and fresh coffee, and I enjoyed meeting many of them individually.
This gathering then seamlessly transitioned into the FoD Social Coffee Morning and Used Uniform Sale, where new parents were introduced to other experienced parents in our community. The mix of these events created a warm and welcoming atmosphere, highlighting the strong sense of community that we are so proud to have at our school.
I’d like to reiterate our invitation to the FoD Dulwich Gala 2024, set for the evening of 23 February. Embracing a Great Gatsby theme, the event promises an evening of 1920s glamour and elegance at the Park Ballroom, Conrad Seoul. With a ticket price that includes a full buffet and open bar (wine/beer), we anticipate a fun night of mingling among parents and staff. Remember, tickets are limited, so please secure your seats early. Additionally, there’s an exclusive accommodation offer from Conrad Seoul and opportunities to support the gala through donations and participate in our silent auction and raffles. All proceeds will be reinvested into the event or donated to charities selected by each of the four Houses. For more detailed information about the gala, including ticket purchase and donation details, please refer to the Whole School section of this update. We look forward to celebrating our community spirit with you in grand style.
We are excited to host our inaugural Wine & Cheese with Senior School evening for Year 6 parents on Thursday, 1 February 2024. This unique event is designed to help bridge the transition from Primary to Senior School, ensuring a smooth and informed journey for our Year 6 students and their families. Year 6 parents will have the opportunity to learn about the Senior School experience directly from our Leadership Team, hear first-hand accounts from IB students and Senior School parents, and gain valuable insights into how we support our students in becoming global citizens. The event will take place in our IB Centre and feature welcome remarks, discussions on transitioning to Senior School, and an optional tour of the Senior School facilities. For younger students needing care during the event, a creche service will be provided in the Primary School Inquiry Hub. I encourage Year 6 parents to join us for this informative and relaxed evening. Learn more about this event in the Primary School section of this update.
I am thrilled to share some exciting news about the impressive university acceptances our Class of 2024 has received. Highlights include Columbia University, University of Chicago, King’s College London, The University of Edinburgh, McGill University, and The University of Hong Kong, among others. These acceptances across various continents underscore the global reach and calibre of our students. For a comprehensive view of all the universities our graduates will be attending, I invite you to peruse the full list in the whole school section of this update.
