From our Head of College

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The autumn weather has truly settled in this week, bringing cooler temperatures and rainy days. Our students have transitioned smoothly into their winter uniforms, and we appreciate your support in helping them prepare for the seasonal change. As we look ahead, the forecast suggests it will become even colder next week, so please ensure your children are dressed warmly.

This week, we welcomed representatives from the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) for an exploratory visit. Their feedback was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting our strong sense of community, inclusion, and student agency. I invite you to read more about their visit and insights in the Whole School section of this update.

Looking ahead, a troupe of our talented drama students will be traveling to Shanghai next week to participate in the Dulwich Shakespeare Festival at Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong (DCSPD). Coincidentally, I will also be attending the Heads Conference in Shanghai during this time, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to support our students in person at the festival. This event brings together students from Dulwich schools across the region to collaborate and perform, showcasing the strength of our global network and our partnership with the world-renowned Royal Shakespeare Company. We wish our students all the best and eagerly anticipate seeing the results of their hard work.

On the sports front, I want to extend a big congratulations to our Friends of Dulwich (FoD) Parents Football team. They secured an impressive fourth place in the British Chamber of Commerce in Korea (BCCK) Charity Tournament, competing against nine teams throughout the day. It’s wonderful to see our parent community engaging in such events, and even more heartening knowing that the tournament’s proceeds will support the Myongdo Welfare Centre, which provides essential services to the disabled community in Mokpo and their families.

We are grateful to everyone who played, supported, and contributed to making this event a success. Special thanks to the BCCK for organising such a meaningful tournament and to Seoul Foreign School for hosting. Let’s continue to participate in initiatives that have a positive impact on our community.

With warm regards,

Ms Alison Derbyshire
