From our Head of College

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Last week, I wrote to you from Singapore. Today I write to you from The British School in New Delhi, India, where I am attending the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) Annual Heads Meeting and Annual General Meeting. It is great to be able to meet colleagues from our family of schools across Asia in-person for the first time since the pandemic.

Our Primary School students have been hitting the hiking trails this week, enjoying the bright sunshine, changing autumn foliage and crisp morning air. Students participated in fun activities such as collecting leaves in various colours and creating artworks with branches and leaves of all shapes and sizes. How fortunate we are to have such fantastic natural spaces within easy reach of our school campus.

Next week, our Open House for prospective parents is scheduled for the morning of Tuesday 22 November. After some introductory remarks in the College Auditorium, the visitors will be split into smaller groups and taken on guided tours of the different sections of the school.

On Saturday 3 December we will be holding the Holiday Market Day organised by Friends of Dulwich. This special event will run from 10am to 3pm and it will be open to the whole Dulwich community as well as friends and family.

There will be over 20 vendors, including food stalls. There will be mulled wine and hot chocolate from the Friends of Dulwich, a flea market where you could find some gems, students providing a gift wrapping service, and a busking stage. I also have it on good authority that Santa himself will be making a visit!

All parents will be able to enter with a lanyard, but parents must RSVP for any friends or family by filling out this form. Visitors who don’t have a lanyard must be on the RSVP list checked by security upon entry. Please note that there will be no exceptions. We appreciate your support in keeping our community safe.

Congratulations to our Senior School Tacloban fundraising team, who raised nearly 300,000 KRW for World Kindness Day and Pepero Day. The money raised will go to Volunteer for the Visayans, a registered non-profit, non-government organisation located in Tacloban City, Philippines. See the Senior School section of this e-update for more information about their wonderful initiative.

Finally, I’m very excited to announce that on Tuesday 29 November, we will be holding a blood drive led by students in partnership with the Red Cross. Students aged 16 and over are eligible to give blood. We will announce more details closer to the date. Stay tuned for further updates next week.

With my best wishes,

Mr Gudmundur Hegner Jonsson

Head of College
