From our Head of College

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We’ve had another dynamic and enriching week at school, filled with opportunities for learning, growth, and community engagement.

Our students were incredibly fortunate to spend time with Céline Cousteau this week as part of our Shackleton Speaker Series. An environmental activist and filmmaker, Céline captivated both Primary and Senior School students with her passion for adventure and commitment to sustainability. She emphasised the profound connection we share with nature and with each other, urging us all to consider how our actions impact the planet. Her stories of resilience and courage were inspiring, encouraging our students to reflect on how they, too, could make a positive difference in the world.

I would like to thank the Friends of Dulwich for hosting another successful Social Coffee Morning this week, which featured a bustling used book and uniform sale. Special thanks to our FoD Co-Chairs Helena and Emil, as well as the entire FoD committee, for all the hard work of organising and supporting our sustainability value by encouraging reuse of these gently used uniforms and books. What you do every day for our community is deeply appreciated.

Yesterday saw a burst of energy and excitement as we held our Senior School Sports Day. Starting at the Banpo Sports Complex and concluding on our own College Field and Gym, the day was filled with athletic events and friendly competition. It was wonderful to see so many students participating enthusiastically, where their house spirits were in full display. Congratulations to Shackleton House for emerging victorious, and a big well done to all who took part—you demonstrated excellent teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship.

Our athletic endeavours didn’t stop there. Our Varsity Volleyball team continued their impressive season with a friendly match against St. Paul Preparatory Seoul, followed by KAIAC league matches against Korea Kent Foreign School. This weekend, our U15 FOBISIA Football Team is competing in the end-of-season KAIAC tournament at Taejon Christian International School. We wish them the very best. Go Leopards!

Next week, we are pleased to welcome a team from the Council of International Schools (CIS) to our campus. As part of our ongoing commitment to excellence and continuous improvement, the CIS team will be observing lessons, meeting with staff, reviewing our documentation, and engaging with various members of our community. This visit is an excellent opportunity for us to demonstrate how we reflect our guiding statements into everything we do. We look forward to showcasing the strengths of our programmes and the progress of our students, as well as gaining valuable feedback that will help us continue to enhance the quality of education we provide.

With the cooler weather settling in, please note that we will be transitioning to the winter uniform starting on Monday. All students should wear long-sleeved Dulwich College uniform shirts and long trousers or kilts. Juniors are reminded to wear their ties neatly. Blazers are optional from Monday to Thursday but are required on Fridays when we have our assemblies. We appreciate your support in helping students prepare for this change and ensuring they adhere to the dress code.

Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable weekend.

With warm regards,

Ms Alison Derbyshire
