Dear Parents and Guardians,
As I reflect on the events of this week, I must begin by acknowledging the incredible adaptability and resilience demonstrated by our students, staff, and parents during today’s Year 3 to Year 6 Sports Day. We initially planned to host the event at the nearby Banpo Sports Complex, but due to an unforeseen double booking, we were left with no choice but to relocate back to the College campus. I must say, it was a classic example of life throwing us a curveball, or perhaps more fittingly, a javelin. But, in true Dulwich spirit, we rose to the occasion and made the best of the situation.
I would like to extend my heartfelt apologies for any inconvenience this last-minute change may have caused and thank our wonderful parents for their understanding, flexibility, and unwavering support. It is in moments like these that I am reminded of the strength of our community and how fortunate we are to have such an understanding and united family here at Dulwich College Seoul.
On a celebratory note, I would like to give a hearty congratulations to Sejong House for their win today. With exceptional teamwork and determination, they managed to edge out Shackleton for the coveted trophy. Well done to all the students who participated and displayed their Dulwich spirit!
I am delighted to share the outstanding achievements of our Leopards during the KAIAC Football season. Both our girls’ and boys’ teams were crowned White Conference Champions, with the boys securing the Plate Championship and the girls finishing in third place.
Last night, I had the pleasure of attending the King’s Coronation Garden Party at the UK ambassador’s residence. Marking 140 years of diplomatic relations between the UK and Korea, this special event not only celebrated the long-standing friendship between the two nations but also highlighted the rich cultural exchange and mutual understanding that have blossomed over the years. As the Head of Dulwich College Seoul, a leading British international school in Seoul, it was an honour to be part of this historic celebration and to witness firsthand the enduring ties between the UK and Korea.
This week, our Year 6 students showcased their newfound skills in engaging presentations as part of the Year 6 Award. With a focus on resilience, independence, and confidence, these young learners explored a diverse range of skills, arts and crafts, martial arts, new languages, coding and musical instruments, among others. The audience of parents and Year 5 students witnessed their impressive growth through videos and live demonstrations. These presentations reflect the dedication and determination of our students as they continue to grow and learn at Dulwich College Seoul.
As we approach the end of another successful and fulfilling year at Dulwich College Seoul, I would like to express my gratitude for your unwavering support. Today, you should have received an email detailing the various enhancements made to our facilities, improvements in staff recruitment and retention, and our plans for the summer works. This email also includes a link to the fee structure for the 2023-2024 academic year. I encourage you to click on the link here and review the information provided, as it demonstrates our ongoing commitment to providing our students with a world-class learning environment.
Please note that invoices will be sent on 10 May and the deadline for the tuition fee payment has been moved up to Wednesday 14 June. As demand for spaces in the new academic year is high, we kindly ask for your prompt attention to the invoice payment process as we will strictly adhere to the deadline. We look forward to another excellent year ahead, as we continue to inspire our students to grow as global citizens who make a positive difference in the world. Thank you for your support and our continued partnership in creating the best learning experience for our students.
Lastly, I want to wish our students a happy Children’s Day tomorrow. This important national holiday in Korea is a time for families to come together and embrace the joy and simple pleasures of childhood. I hope this Children’s Day will be filled with laughter, love, and fun for everyone in our Dulwich family.
With my best wishes,
Mr Guðmundur Hegner Jónsson
