Senior School

Experiential Cooking Class for IB Students was an enriching, hands-on cooking class. Students collaborated to learn essential life skills that will serve them well as they prepare for their next steps at university. The class provided a wonderful opportunity for decision-making, creativity, and building independence – all with a delicious outcome!

A huge thank you to our wonderful student ambassadors, Natalie (Year 7), Tia (Year 9), Kris (Year 11), and Jane (Year 12), who did an outstanding job representing our school at the Primary School Open Day. They demonstrated confidence and superb presentation skills as the welcomed potential families and shared their experiences with thoughtfulness and enthusiasm. We are so proud of the role they play in building our sense of community.

This week, our Student Council took centre stage in the weekly assembly, presenting their latest initiatives and goals. Their dedication to representing student voice—a foundation of our school community—is both inspiring and essential in shaping a supportive and inclusive environment. We are grateful for their commitment to fostering kindness, excellence, and a strong sense of community across all year groups.

Community and giving is a strong sentiment within the student body. Thank you to Mari (ear Y11) for organising a bake sale this week in aid of SOS Children’s Villages, South Korea, an organisation dedicated to supporting children and young people without parental care. Also, Sabina (Year 8) is restarting charity Sabina’s Survival Kits, she explains the purpose below .

Dear Dulwich Families,

Some of you may recall that for my Year 6 Award, I created Sabina’s Survival Kits, small packages that I distributed to homeless people. Using supplies many of you kindly donated, I was able to help many of the homeless in the Seoul area, providing them with water, snacks, and basic toiletries. I would like to keep this project going and hope the Dulwich community will once again be able to help by providing a few of the things on the following list.

  • Accessories such as hats, socks, and gloves
  • Small bottles of water
  • Small individually packaged snacks
  • Travel sized personal hygiene items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, mouthwash, and hand sanitizer

Please note that I can only accept items of travel size in good condition. From this weekend, I will have a collection box in the school foyer.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. I greatly appreciate it.

Sincerely,

Sabina

We are in the midst of the Head Student interviews, and Namju Cho, Director of Marketing and Communications, Emma Chamberlain, Assistant Headteacher and IB Coordinator and I are truly astounded by the Year 12 candidates’ commitment to leadership and excellence as they focus on our core values. All applicants were able to articulate their ideas with clarity and passion. We are looking forward to hearing the student and staff presentations on 14 November.

Our senior students also received the eagerly awaited varsity jackets, and they look fantastic! Traditionally reserved for athletes, these jackets are now available to all students, fostering a strong sense of unity and school spirit. Students can make their jackets uniquely theirs by adding KAIAC award patches to celebrate personal achievements, creating lasting memories and a shared sense of pride.

The week ends with a huge congratulations to our talented Year 11 Drama students, who moments ago, delivered a moving and emotive performance this week. Their commitment to their craft was evident in every moment, and the creative direction of Matthew Readman, along with the support of parent volunteer Christina, brought the piece to life in extraordinary ways. It was a celebration of diversity in expression and an inspiring display of excellence in the arts.

It was lovely to see so many parents attend Pete Poulton’s Parent workshop on Thursday to discuss the PE and sport provision in the Senior School. As well as discussing ideas for enhancing our opportunities and facilities even more. We look forward to seeing at some of the upcoming workshops below.

It’s a busy weekend for our school community. We wish our Under-15 FOBISIA teams all the best as they head to Thailand to compete in the FOBISIA Games on Monday. Additionally, good luck to our students participating in the Planet Hack competition, the History Bee and Bowl, and our Songdo 7 participants this weekend. We’re proud of the dedication and excellence they bring to each of these events—good luck to all! We are also asking for performers in the Lunar New Year Assembly, see below for the details.

We look forward to seeing many of you next week as we are joined by Dr Cameron Pyke, Master External Dulwich London and Professor Sarah Clement from Australia National University.

KAIAC Volleyball Succes!

This season has been an exciting one for our varsity volleyball teams, with both the girls’ and boys’ teams displaying incredible skill, determination, and teamwork. We are thrilled to announce that both teams finished in second place in their respective divisions—a remarkable achievement that reflects their hard work and dedication on and off the court!

Throughout the season, the girls’ team impressed us with their strong serves, strategic play, and cohesive teamwork. Under the guidance of Coach Seong Yee they faced tough opponents with resilience, embodying great team spirit. They fought hard in every game and showed true grit as they progressed through the season, ultimately securing a well-deserved second-place finish in the league.

The boys’ team, led by Coach Hong Jeong showcased incredible athleticism and tenacity. Their powerful spikes, precise blocks, and solid defense made them a challenge for every opponent. The team faced a series of tough matches but showed determination to rise to the occasion each time. With great discipline, the boys’ team worked together seamlessly, pushing each other but also supporting each other.

We are incredibly proud of both teams for their achievements this season. Well done to all involved.

Thank you to all the coaches and parents for your support. And, of course, congratulations once again to our varsity volleyball teams on a fantastic season!

SSAEM Peer Mentoring

The Year 12 and Year 13 students are re-introducing the new SSAEM peer mentoring program for this term!

‘SSAEM’, which roughly translates to ‘tutor’ in Korean vernacular, is designed to help younger students (Year 7 to Year 11) with academics and other things relating to the senior school. It can be a great way to gain insight into IB students’ perspectives on school and also to discuss topics that are more suitable for a mature student body.

Mentees will be joined up as either single sessions (one mentor and one mentee) or double sessions (one mentor and two mentees), depending on the mentees’ choices. Scheduling for meetings will happen individually via email between the mentors and the mentees, which can happen anytime from lunchtime to 4.30pm after school.

For students wishing to become mentees for this term, please fill out this form.

We look forward to seeing more students sign up!
